Core wood is the darkening of a certain part around the core as a result of physiological change. It is a dark colored, dead cell structure that only serves as a mechanical support. False wood is the living part of the tree that maintains its functionality. It is a light colored structure consisting of living cells that transmit water from the roots to the leaves of the tree. The width ratio between the core wood and the pseudowood varies according to the type of trees and the environment they grow in. Almost every tree sees the phenomenon of navel binding. However, in some trees, the core wood does not change color. In this case, it becomes difficult to distinguish it from false wood.
