Paulownia, also known as Chinese poplar, is a tree prized for its ability to yield high-quality and hard timber. Native to China, it has natural spreading areas and is cultivated extensively for various purposes.
This fast-growing tree is widely used in intermediate agriculture, landscaping, industrial forests, and, most notably, timber production. In the Northern Hemisphere, including our country, approximately 24 million decares of land are dedicated to its cultivation.
The average lifespan of a Paulownia tree is around 70 years. However, it exhibits rapid growth and can be harvested in as little as 5-7 years. The most economical cutting time is typically around the 10th year. By cutting it every 10 to 16 years, one can obtain high-density hardwood timber, making it a valuable resource for sustainable forestry practices.
